April 1990

RECENT FIRST TEAM FORM.

"We are rapidly approaching the close of yet another season yet predictions of the three 'senior' sides remain uncertain.

The First XI are likely to finish in mid-table which to the lads will be a little disappointing after sitting in second spot for a long spell. But inconsistent performances were punished. So a year to settle in the higher echelon of Senior Division One will not be a bad thing afer gaining rapid promotion in two successive seasons. It will give us time to take stock and to make a fresh push to gain Premier League status at the end of next season.

RECENT RESERVE TEAM FORM.

The Reserves I feel will gain promotion - a tribute to both Gerald and Robbie after re-shaping rheir squad after last season.

With several games to go, and one or two really tough games to come, I feel they are fully capable to take one of the three promotion places. I would be bitterly disappointed if they failed to do so after such a good season.

RECENT SUNDAY TEAM FORM.

Barry's lads in the Sunday League have followed in much the same path as the First XI after a good start to the season, they have fallen away somewhat since the mid-way point. Barry's side have also been inconsistent losing games they should have won - failing to hold on to their lead on a number of occasions.

But I've watched enough of their games to know that Buckland Keyberry contains a lot of talented players and I'm sure will push hard for the rest of the season. I see them playing in the top flight next year after securing a promotion spot.

OTHER NEWS.

One thing we have found difficult to win is the Buckland Trivia Quiz. The trophy has been contested for on several occasions - The Keyberry have won six times and the Girls Hockey team once.

In the latest meeting Barry McIver's team were runners-up to the 'Old Enemy' with John West's side once again bringing up the rear in fine style.

All regular teams are invited back for the next challenge* at The Keyberry Hotel (upstairs) at 7.15pm on Sunday 6 May 1990. New teams are more than welcome, especially if you've got a high IQ (only kidding) with no more than five members to a team at £1.00 per head, with all profits going to Club funds, so come along and have a fun night out!

See you all in May."

* A note from the Editor: Bob Searle's team of Bob, Steven 'Sammy' Searle, Martin Underwood, etc. hope to be back for the next one to help offer a real challenge to The Keyberry.
