GOSSIP...INJURY UPDATES...ETC.

'Wally of the Month':  Nigel Holmes (left)
Steven 'Billy' Holmes (left)
Injury Updates:

In recent weeks the First Team has seen injuries to key players.

Trevor Webber appears to have recovered from a badly sprained ankle sustained in the 1-3 defeat at the hands of London and Manchester on Saturday 4 November 1989.

Steven 'Billy' Holmes (pictured below) has successfully completed his second comeback match after returning against East Budleigh.

He has recently been suffering from a re-occuring knee injury which relapsed also during the match at London and Manchester.

P.S.:  We would like to take this opportunity to wish... Graham Furze a speedy recovery.

Prodigal Son returns:

This month saw the arrival, or should I say return, of 'prodigal son' Mike Taylor.

Mike, who was signed from South Devon League side Old Torquay Grammarians/St Marychurch, was formerly a Buckland youth team member.

The rookie defender was put straight into the First Team against East Budleigh and hsi was a steady performance.  His early form is good and he shows signs of becoming a future stalwart and definitely one to look out for.

'Wally of the Month':

Two weeks ago (on Saturday 25 November 1989), saw Nigel Holmes (pictured below) collect the first booking of a footballing career that stretches over 15 years.  It also earnt him the award of 'Wally of the Month'

Other News:

Buckland's First Team have gone through indifferent form in which they have won only twice and drawn once in the last six games.

Their win at East Budleigh finally ended a sequence of six games without a win against our old rivals.
