...Confidence flowed through the Exeter side and after 35 mins. they added a third with clearly the best goal of the match.

The ball was nonchalantly passed about the centre of the park before it was played out to the right wing.  The winger rounded Tommy Norrish and sprinted along the touchline.  He played the perfect ball into the box for the oncoming forward to slot home from close range.

The second-half failed to produce any change in the flow of the play with the away team often being that yard quicker to the ball.

The final embarrassment came when a hopeful ball deflected a full 20 yards past the helpless 'keeper.

The one good point to come from the game, as far as Buckland were concerned, was the battling form of Simon Olford who on the day was head and shoulders the best player for The Bucks.

A full ten minute team talk by Bucks Manager, Roy Holmes, must have been burning in the ears of his team as they set out to beat East Budleigh.

After 25 minutes of searching football, an error in the East Budleigh defence saw the ball break to the left where Paul Hardingham was free in acres of space.

He fully exploited the space and placed his shot under the half-advancing 'keeper.  A sweet revenge for Paul who was unfortunate to score an own-goal last week in the cup match at home to Exeter St Thomas.

Twelve minutes later Nigel Holmes was mysteriously booked for allegedly catching his opponent once too often.

After 68 minutes, Chris Lancaster replaced Marc Collier and played in complete contrast to the game last week with St Thomas where he looked out of touch with the game.

Buckland faced a set-back when, after 70 mins. East Budleigh equalised.

The Bucks didn't lose heart though and built again from scratch.

The game was extended a full ten minutes as one player after another sought medical attention... not that it was an aggressive game but a highly competitive one.  As it turned out, the extra minutes worked in Buckland's favour.

Everyone thought the match was destined for a draw after Simon Olford missed a golden opportunity after being put clean through by Dale Wreyford's perfectly executed pass.

Then dramatically, deep into added time, Olford intercepted a poor back-pass to score the killer goal with literally only seconds to play.
