December 1989

THE FIRST TEAM.

"The Seniors, as a whole, have some very good players on the books this season - with a good blend of youth and experience.

The First Eleven have managed to keep together the same side for another season. A nice show of loyalty on the part of some of its players who were approached by clubs of a higher grade during the close season.

After gaining promotion two seasons in succession, the team's aim must be to consolidate their position in the First Division at the very least.

THE RESERVES.

The Second Eleven will, I know, be hoping to improve on last season's position and will be planning to gain promotion and are perfectly capable of achieving this.

Their squad this season has done somewhat of a U-turn. Last season's squad, made up of mostly 14-16 year old youngsters, has made way for a much more experienced side with a few keen youngsters still holding a regular place.

THE YOUTH TEAMS.

The loss of both the Under-16s and Under-18s was due to the lack of interested youngsters this season.

CURRENT FIRST TEAM FORM.

The last few weeks have seen rough times for the First Eleven, so with the recent win over our bogey side East Budleigh (2-1 away win, Saturday 25 November 1989) we hope that our 'hiccup' in form is now over.

FINAL WHISTLE comments...

The coming month sees some tough games ahead and I would like to wish all our club sides good luck.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

See you all in January."

Roy Holmes.
